5 Women Leading the Way in Ministry

We are so excited for this year’s She Leads Church Summit, and in honor of that, we want to highlight a few inspiring women that are currently leading the way in ministry. They’ll all be joining us to speak at this year’s event, sharing their insight and expertise.

We all know that leadership is not easy, and at times it can be a heavy weight to bear, but each of these women has responded to the call that God has placed on their lives. Read on to learn about them and their ministries!

 

Nona Jones

Nona Jones is a rare combination of preacher, business executive, author, and entrepreneur. In her day job she serves as the Head of North America Community Partnerships and Global Faith-Based Partnerships at Facebook. She is the bestselling author of two books; Success from the Inside Out, chronicling her unlikely story of success after a childhood filled with physical and sexual abuse, and From Social Media to Social Ministry, the globally acclaimed guide to digital discipleship for churches. Since being licensed into the gospel ministry at the age of 17, Nona has preached around the world. As a business executive and entrepreneur, shehas been profiled by ESSENCE Magazine as an “Under 40 Woman to Watch” and Florida Trend Magazine as one of Florida’s “30-Something All Stars.” She holds a Bachelor in Communications and Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida where she has been recognized as an Outstanding Young Alumnus and she has completed graduate studies at the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation. She is the Founder of Faith & Prejudice, a social justice organization bringing the churches across North America together to dismantle systemic racism. She is a graduate of Leadership Florida and the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program, a joint initiative of President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.Her civic engagement includesThe Links, Incorporated, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the University of Florida Digital Advisory Council. She and her husband, Pastor Tim, lead Open Door Ministries in Gainesville, FL and are the proud parents of two boys, Timothy, Jr. and Isaac, and two girls, Goldendoodle Shiloh and Standard Poodle Sydney.

 

Toni Nieuwhof

Toni is passionate about her mission to help people love being home. She’s a family law mediator, former divorce attorney, author, speaker and co-host of the Smart Family Podcast. She has been married to leadership expert, author, speaker and former pastor Carey Nieuwhof for over 31 years. Toni has served the sick and vulnerable over the years by combining her professional acumen as pharmacist and lawyer in various roles in hospitals and other organizations. She has spent decades serving the community through the church Carey and Toni founded, and has been a mentor to many. Her heart is full when she spends time outdoors with Carey, their two sons and anyone who is drawn to the aroma of their backyard BBQ.

 

Joanna la Fleur

Joanna is a speaker, podcaster, TV host, and communications consultant. With a Business Communications degree and a Masters in Theological Studies, she has been helping the Church communicate the best news in the world for over 15 years. You can catch her interviews with Christian creatives and communicators on the Word Made Digital Podcast, communications training on the Word Made Digital Tutorials and her Bible teaching on the national tv show, See Hear Love. Additionally, Joanna is grateful to work with Danielle Strickland on initiatives like Infinitum- spiritual practices for those who follow Jesus in the Digital Age. She acts as an advisor to the Institute of Evangelism at Wycliffe College and is newly appointed to the Board of Governors at Tyndale University. Joanna is a proud aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, has travelled to 37 countries in search of coffee, and calls Toronto home.

 

Jessica Bealer

Jessica has been leading children’s ministry for 21 years, six of which were spent overseeing standards, systems, staffing and atmosphere for the family ministry of Elevation Church. She has overseen the launch of twenty locations, and is considered a specialist in multisite. Jessica is a mother of five, published author, ministry coach and consultant, and host of the Women’s Leadership Workshop podcast.

 

Faith Eury Cho

Faith has been in the ministry since she was 19-years-old and continues to have a burning passion to know the Presence of God, articulate the gospel, and champion the marginalized. Currently, she is a pastor, a pastor’s wife, the founder of The Honor Summit (501c3), and a church planter (Mosaic Covenant Church of NJ). However, her most precious role is to be a mother to her four children, and as a family they are launching Mosaic Church in February 20, 2022.

 

 

All of these women have accomplished many things, yet all have a similar calling; to be leaders for Christ. To help inspire people to lean into God’s love. Each one of these women have found God and His love in their personal journey through life, and He is using them in unique and wonderful ways.

 

God has a purpose, a beautiful purpose, for each and every one of us. Your path may look nothing like any of the stories above, but He has granted each of us with our own abilities, gifts, talents, and has set us all on our own paths that will lead us to Him and share the His glory to others.
