Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Steve received his Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Mercer University and a Master of Arts degree in corporate communication and technology from Rollins College. He's also earned hours of credit toward a Master of Theological Studies degree through Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before joining our staff in 2008, he served at First Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida as the Pastor of Media and Communication Ministries for 13 years. He was ordained there in 1996. Steve has served on the National Religious Broadcasters’ Advisory Council and the Board of Directors for Exchange Ministries. Since 1992, he's been a member of the Metro Media Ministers Association and served a term as president. He's also a member of the Leadership Orlando Class of 2007 and the Leadership Brentwood Class of 2011. Steve has also been certified by Main Event Management as a Model-Netics instructor. The Model-Netics course is a comprehensive management system that is required for all new staff at the church. At Brentwood Baptist, Steve’s role is to develop communication strategies and to be the team leader and champion for a talented group of professionals in the fields of marketing, media, and digital strategies. Steve is married to Brandi and they have two daughters. His “Florida hobbies” were barefoot waterskiing and motorcycle riding, neither of which he gets to do much in Tennessee. He’s very content spending his spare time with his family.
