What’s your name?

Tiffany Wickstrom

Where do you serve, what is your title, and how long have you served there?

Englewood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. My title is Ministry Assistant – Media and I have served at Englewood for 11 years.

How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t go to church?

I am responsible for communications for the church. I handle graphic design, promotions, social media, etc. I am also the assistant to our Technical Director who is responsible for all things tech/IT at our church.

What were some of the things that you experienced that shaped the way you approach your work?

My number one goal is to make Jesus famous. I always strive for excellence no matter the size of the project because I’m not just representing me or my church, I’m representing the Lord, and He deserves more than the best I can do.

What’s the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

For people I work with – time management is hard when you work with so many ministries. Everyone thinks their ministry is the only one that matters in the church, and sometimes it’s hard for me to decide who gets first dibs at my timelines.

For those in the church – please just read the emails I send out LOL!

What is the one tool for your job that you can’t live without, and why?

My laptop. I am an employee, but I am also a wife, mother, daughter, and granddaughter. I have a lot of responsibilities in life. And, the ability to move around and get work done on my laptop while taking care of a sick child or sitting in the hospital with my grandma (as I type this she is in the ER with heart issues), it makes a big difference from being tied to my desktop.

What is the biggest mistake that you see churches making when it comes to communications and marketing?

Insider language. I used to be this way too. I have started getting feedback from people who have no idea what an event is about so that I can make sure they can understand the communications points without needing a church dictionary.

Who is someone that you look up to in the church communications world?

I am a big fan of Church Marketing University. So I would say Ryan Wakefield is definitely someone I look up to.
