What’s your name?

Dorian Williams

Where do you serve, what is your title, and how long have you served there?

Communications Team, Social Media Director, A Year and a Half

How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t go to church?

I help promote and reach people who may not want to go to the church using the communications channels of social media.

What were some of the things that you experienced that shaped the way you approach your work?

Always be ahead of schedule. Always be consistent in sacrifice. Train up someone in your role so that we can expand the Kingdom of God.

What’s the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

It’s not just designing graphics and posting, you encounter people who are far away from God and need a church to go to.

What is the one tool for your job that you can’t live without, and why?

A graphic designing app called “Over.”

What is the biggest mistake that you see churches making when it comes to communications and marketing?

Not having both a plan or strategy to reach the lost. I think it has come to a point where it’s more about programs & events rather than about souls.

Who is someone that you look up to in the church communications world?

Ryan Wakefield

We really appreciate you, Dorian, for letting us know you more. It is really vital for churches to not only serve their congregation but also reach the lost. People like you who use creativity to reach more people are amazing!
