Featured Member of the Week: Kelsey Coffy

What’s your name?

Kelsey Coffy

Where do you serve, what is your title, and how long have you served there?

Cross Connect Church, Ashland OH Administrative Assistant, and Finance Director (aka assistant to pastor’s chaos ) 3 years on staff, 6 years on the leadership team

How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t go to church?

I make sure the money is well-managed and get all needed information out to our church family on a regular basis.

What were some of the things that you experienced that shaped the way you approach your work?

Learning how to interact with church people. My husband and I own businesses and interacting with employees are a whole lot different when you’re working with volunteers. I’ve had to learn a lot of grace and understanding.

What’s the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

That a lot of things are needed last-minute and a thank you goes a long way.

What is the one tool for your job that you can’t live without, and why?

My Mac for sure! Being able to access documents and clouds across all devices is a lifesaver.

What is the biggest mistake that you see churches making when it comes to communications and marketing?

Not having a plan and a designated person to oversee it. I didn’t know much about church marketing and communications until I took a few courses.

Who is someone that you look up to in the church communications world?

Brady Shearer! His newsletter and courses are amazing

We are so happy to know that more and more people who are working for the church have a strong drive to help the church help people, like you, Kelsey! Keep spreading your light and inspire more people to serve the Lord.
