What’s your name?

Rob Sebo Lubke

Where do you serve, what is your title, and how long have you served there?

I’ve been Communication Director at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in Saint Paul for five years.

How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t go to church?

I help people learn about a great place they know nothing about.

What were some of the things that you experienced that shaped the way you approach your work?

I was in broadcast media for a long time, so I’m very focused on storytelling. I also have a strong background in Intercultural Communication that helps me bridge the gaps between our church and our community.

What’s the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

There is more prep work involved than you think.

What is the one tool for your job that you can’t live without, and why?

A supportive and trusting leadership staff.

What is the biggest mistake that you see churches making when it comes to communications and marketing?

More is always better.

Who is someone that you look up to in the church communications world?

I can’t pick one person. I’ve gotten so much support from so many people.

With a few yet wonderful words, your passion for communicating & storytelling for the church is truly felt. Thank you, Rob, for the value that you bring to your church and the whole church communicators’ community.
