How Your Church Can Start Using TikTok

TikTok has become a huge social media platform, and maybe it’s time for your church to jump onto the platform. If you and your church want to reach a younger audience, TikTok is one of the best places to do it.

TikTok’s posting format has also become very successful with short videos. Other platforms like Instagram have started to copy this format. It’s important to start getting used to this format now so that you can get used to it before it’s everywhere.

Here are some examples of videos you can create when your church starts using TikTok:

Trendy

There are certain sounds and songs that go viral on TikTok, and everyone on TikTok recognizes them as they gain popularity and begin to be trendy.

If you want to keep up with the crowd, you will need to also use these sounds as they are at their peak of trend.

As is typical for trends, they come and go, so you need to be on the watch for what’s trending at the time and what isn’t.

Duet

This style of post is where you react to a video that someone else, maybe another church, has put out.

An example of this could be a poster inviting someone to church paired alongside with your VBS kids screaming for joy. There is a lot you can do with the duet style video so make sure to experiment with different things to find what fits your church.

Teaching

Another style of video your church can try on TikTok are teaching videos. These are perfect for sharing the message preached on the weekends. Come up with a captivating title for the clip and place it on the front of the video as the video plays behind  it.

Teaching videos are great for spreading God’s love in a deeper, more meaningful way than trending sounds and duets.

Funny

These are similar to trending sounds in that videos using trending sounds are typically funny, but they don’t need to use whatever sound may be viral at the moment, they just have to be funny.

Don’t be afraid to let loose and show your funny side. Have fun experimenting with different videos and styles.

Conclusion

It may be difficult to get your church out there on TikTok, but eventually it may be necessary. Use these 4 video styles to help get your church started in the TikTok game, and don’t forget to have fun with it along the way.
